Due to the lack of resources, I was only able to paint the traditional handicraft embroidery, Chamba rumal from Himachal Pradesh. For the fabric, I was able to gather some scrap from my friends and made the diamond shapes, inspired by something known as denim circles.

This project enabled me to come out of my comfort zone of working only on paper and made me question what is a poster really? Does it only need to be made using paper? Could it have a different form than a rectangle? Maybe it could have had more elements from Indian handicrafts or maybe it could be interactive in a craft-like manner—could have helped us connect with how we all start cutting, pasting, colouring etc as kids. I am in awe of all the arts and crafts styles that India offers and hope to pay tribute to them and in a way preserve them through my work.
